5 Reasons to Include Writing in Your Fitness Business

When you write something informative, intriguing or helpful, readers will want to know more about you.

Content is Gold

Have you ever considered writing for a publication?

Or maybe you’ve been asked to write on a topic you’re passionate about but didn’t know where to start.

It’s easier than you think, and even easier if you’ve already started a blog.

If you’re having any doubtful thoughts such as, “What? Lil ‘ol me, a writer?” Or, “What can I possibly write that hasn’t already been done?” I’m going to share with you what another professional writer shared with me… “Content is King.” (p.s I’m changing it to “Content is Gold”).

What does that mean?

It means people, from all walks of life, editors and publications are ALWAYS in need of content. And they’re in need of fresh voices and a new perspective.

Your perspective.

You’ve already invested time, love, energy and money into what you do and I’m pretty sure you’ve got some experience, know-how, ideas and opinions under your belt. You can reap some great benefits by sharing them!

5 Reasons to Include Writing in Your Fitness Biz

So, if you’ve been toying with the idea of guest writing or intrigued thus far, here are 5 reasons to include writing in your fitness biz.

  1. Position yourself as an Expert. (cause you are!!)
Writing, outside of your blog puts your name out there, enhancing your reputation and credibility. All of that equates to more SEO and google critters bringing your name up and more opportunities. Opportunities? Like more writing gigs, corporate gigs, speaking gigs, teaching gigs, clients, collaborations… anything, you’re literally planting seeds all over the internet. You never know who or when someone is going to reach out to you based on what you’ve written.
  1. Change the Narrative.
How many times have you read an article or blog, especially related to your expertise and it pissed you off? Take that emotion, pair it with your expertise and get those thoughts on paper (or a laptop). It’s the first step to literally changing the world and voicing your expertise and opinion. Not only is it a healthy way to get something off your chest, but I guarantee that you’ll inspire or help a reader.
  1. Reach more of your Target audience.
That’s write (I mean right!) by sprinkling your thoughts in other publications you’re reaching their regular followers and readership. You can be reaching people that may have never found you. Plus when they’re googling a topic that is your specialty and your name keeps popping up in various places, well hey, guess what? that ties into #1 — you’ve positioned yourself as the expert.
  1. Writing brings more visitors to your Website.
Ahh yea! Most publications will print or display your bio and handles. When you write something informative, intriguing or helpful, readers will want to know more about you. Once on your site they can opt-in and get on your list for more knowledge and your offerings.
  1. Get Paid!
Even if you choose a non-paying writing contribution (we’ll discuss this in depth in the course) because of everything mentioned above, you’re increasing the chances for new clients and new opportunities, which means more money AND more opportunity to fulfill your purpose. This can be short or long term. Then of course, there are paid writing opportunities! So you get all of the benefits mentioned above plus extra cash in your pocket. We’re talking anywhere from $125 up to $1500 per article/blog.
