I Find Myself Inspired Daily
Inspiration can come from a lot of places. Some people go on a yoga retreat and feel inspired to do something different when they return, while others are inspired by the New Year, when they set goals and dream of what could be. Me? I find myself inspired daily – and even hourly. Sometimes I am listening (okay, eavesdropping) on a conversation, and I hear something that inspires me a few times. I know it can seem hard to believe, but I honestly love diving deeper into life. Life includes Pilates, work, hobbies, and relationships. I happen to write, podcast, and coach on each of these!
Before Profitable Pilates was a coaching and course site, it was a book. I was inspired to help soon-to-be and experienced instructors alike. I met so many teachers who needed help building a business that would support their life and goals. So, being in studios, taking classes, and observing teachers with their clients is still a source of inspiration for me. Now, the inspiration spurs my online courses, blogs, and in-person workshops.

Inspiration Will Present Itself
In 2014, after months of revamping my life goals and dating, I caught up with my best friend in her happy place NYC. After catching up we both realized that we were constantly being asked dating and goal advice. So, we started Live ClareLesley, a blog about life, relationships, and careers. Daily life experiences could inspire a blog. And, knowing that our readers are able to take our blogs and ideas and make their life better is a source of inspiration.
Teaching clients and coaching instructors rock my inspiration station. Every hour is a new source of information. Clients come in with their life stories, where they are coming from, and where they are going to. Their bodies are a combination of their histories, how they use them and connect to them. Most of us are just trying to do better and be better. How we move our bodies, how we complete the exercises is insight to how we complete a project, goal, or more, “off the mat.” Teaching and coaching requires me to find new ways to get my clients’ minds and bodies to connect and move as one. Just like in Pilates, nothing is overworking or underworking. When I see clients connect to their bodies more during an exercise, it’s incredibly awe inspiring. Then the session is over and it’s another client or instructor’s time. It’s another challenge to be present for them. The more my clients and teachers connect to themselves, the easier it is for them to connect to others.
These different sessions of inspiration are what laid the foundation for my weekly subscription emails called “Notes 2 Inspire.” When I say they are just a note, that’s truly what they are. I wanted to write something for those who practice Pilates, teach Pilates, have heard of Pilates, or even who have never heard of Pilates to have something in their inbox each week that neither sold nor promoted anything. On Mondays, I seem to have more and more emails in my inbox that I didn’t sign up for. I would love to have an email that, instead of calling me to buy or do something, just shares a bit of info that I can ponder, keep in mind, and maybe apply to my life. Writing my “notes” allows me to process how something affected my life in a positive way. Then it allows me to share that with others.
I look forward to each day because even if it seems like every moment is filled with to-do lists, sessions, and phone calls, I know that inspiration will present itself. Each hour is potential for surprise, learning, and even “ah-ha moments.” I would love to hear what inspires you! Comment below, on social, or private message me here: lesley@profitablepilates.com.
